The Klimabonus Mobilitéit financial aid program for electric vehicles has been extended
On March 20, the government decided to extend the purchase incentives for zero-emission vehicles beyond June 30, 2026. The incentive program was set to expire on July 1 and has now been extended through June 30, 2030.
“The gradual transition to electric mobility is essential to achieving the energy and climate goals to which Luxembourg has committed. This extension provides the public and businesses with greater certainty and visibility, allowing them to plan their investments in sustainable mobility with greater peace of mind and confidence”
emphasizes Serge Wilmes, Minister of the Environment, Climate, and Biodiversity, in the press release issued following the cabinet meeting.
The level of subsidies and the tiered structure based on environmental and social criteria in effect since October 1, 2024, remain unchanged:
Klimabonus Mobilitéit
€6,000 for vehicles with an electric consumption of ≤ 16 kWh/100 km.
- This amount also applies to vehicles with 7 or more seats for households of at least 5 people
- and to 100% electric vans as well as hydrogen fuel cell cars
€3,000 for vehicles with an electricity consumption between 16 and 18 kWh/100 km or < 20 kWh/100 km if the vehicle’s maximum net power is ≤ 150 kW.
Required vehicle ownership period: 3 years.
Used electric cars (> 3 years old) will also be eligible for a €1,500 bonus.
These measures apply to vehicles ordered between October 1, 2024, and June 30, 2030, provided the vehicle is owned for a minimum of 36 months. Subject to the completion of legislative and regulatory procedures. *
