Tyre size
The size and type of tyre vary depending on the model you are driving. If you are experiencing issues with a tyre, you will need to provide your tyre size.
Directly on the tyre, on their side.
It is a combination of letters and numbers. For example, for a Peugeot 3008 Allure, the tyre size is: 235/55 R19 105
235 = the width of the tyre in millimetres.
55 = the height of the tyre as a percentage of the width.
R19 = the size of the wheel in inches.
105 = the load index (the maximum load capacity of the tyre).
This number will enable your tyre fitter to use the exact same tyre as replacement of your damaged one.

Tyre Pressure
It’s important to regularly check your tyre pressure for few reasons:
- Safety: keeping your tyres inflated to the required level will ensure better traction, handling, control, and braking performance, reducing the risk of accidents, especially in wet weather.
- Fuel Efficiency: if your tyres are under-inflated it will increase their rolling resistance, requiring more fuel or energy to move the vehicle forward.
- Tyre Longevity: by keeping your tyres properly inflated, you can maximise their duration and avoid premature replacement, saving you money in the long run.
- Legal Compliance: Driving with under-inflated tyres is against the law and can result in fines or penalties. Regularly checking and maintaining tire pressure helps ensure compliance with legal requirements. The legal minimum tyre tread is 1.6mm – however, at Leasys we allow replacement at 2.0mm.
Did you know?
More and more vehicles have a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System alerting you if your tyre pressure is not right.
At a garage or a petrol station
You can usually find it on a sticker inside one of the vehicle doors, or in the glovebox. If you have any doubts, you can refer to the vehicle handbook.
Once your tyres have been re-inflated, you will need to reset the Tyre Pressure Monitoring System so the alert disappear. If you have any doubt to proceed, you can refer to your vehicle handbook.
Tyre tread depth
The legal minimum tyre tread is 1.6mm and if you drive with a tread depth below this legal limit, you could face a maximum a three penalty points and a fine of up to £2,500 per tyre. At Leasys, we allow replacement at 2.0mm so you should never be in an illegal situation, as long as you check your tyres regularly. If a tyre is damaged due to a puncture or driver abuse, a charge will be levied by Leasys based on the unused tread remaining.
